Iparművészeti Múzeum Talking map

Since 2016 the Museum of Applied Arts is the representative of Budapest in the Réseau Art Nouveau Network (RANN). The RANN was founded in 1999 due to the initiative of a few European cities with a rich Art Nouveau heritage and today has more than twenty members from all over Europe and even from the overseas. In 2014 the RANN became a Cultural Route of the Council of Europe. Member cities are represented by institutions with different profiles: museums, universities and state institutions are committed to the research, conservation and spread of Art Nouveau heritage. RANN aims to keep professionals and the general public informed of the Art Nouveau research and draw the attention to the unique cultural significance of Art Nouveau which is present with its very different trends in the partner cities. Participating in projects funded by the European Union, their cooperation resulted in travelling exhibitions, conferences, scientific labs and publications.

During the General Assembly held in Glasgow in 2016 the Museum of Applied Arts had the opportunity to introduce and officially take over the representation of Budapest in the RANN. Amongst the first results of our membership is that the Hungarian initiative Art Nouveau World Day (held on the 10th of June commemorating the death of the two great architects: the Catalan Antoni Gaudí and the Hungarian Ödön Lechner) became part of the cultural program of the RANN.
