9–11 October 2017

The workshop is the first stage in the research project for the tender entitled

Preserving and promoting the Art Nouveau heritage in the Danube region.

This three-day event is intended to offer insight into how various decorative architectural elements of Art Nouveau buildings are restored in the 21st century. The guest presenters, all of whom are outstanding experts in their respective fields of restoration in Hungary, will unveil the technical solutions that usually stay concealed behind the visible decorations, detailing the diverse materials employed, the different types of damage that may occur and how to treat them, as well as opportunities for conservation and restoration. A restorer must always bear in mind factors of authenticity and the best measures to take to preserve the works in question, while also paying attention to the prevailing conditions in the built environment.

Date: 9–11 October 2017
Venue: Museum of Applied Arts (Address: H-1091 Budapest, Üllői út 33–37)
