The Metalwork Collection contains 11,000 pieces, mainly consisting of artworks of foreign and partially of Hungarian masters. As well as items of precious metals, there are fine pieces made from copper, bronze, tin and cast and wrought iron.

The collection contains many rarities and masterpieces, the works of eminent foreign (Augsburg, Nuremberg) and Hungarian craftsmen, mainly from the 16th and 17th centuries. These display the finest aspects of style, type and technique in the development of European metalwork.

There are also art treasures from the 17th and 18th centuries, major pieces of 19th century Hungarian metalware (work by József Szentpéteri), and work by foreign (Lalique) and Hungarian craftsmen of the Art Nouveau period.

Contemporary metalwork is mainly represented by jewellery.
