Iparművészeti Múzeum Talking map

The breadth of the Museum's collections is noteworthy even by world standards.

The art works cover all possible sections of general and Hungarian craft arts from the Middle Ages to the first third of the 20th century, and even up to the present day. They provide a glimpse into aristocratic interiors and the opulent lifestyle associated with them, and convey the refined taste and high standards of middle-class and haute-bourgeois art collections.

The art works are divided among five collection departments. At its foundation, objects were classified by craft, material and technique, and this system has been found satisfactory ever since.

More information about the collections is available in the collection database of the museum, which is also availabel in English.
